About this deal

A mini dc gear motor is a small, lightweight and powerful motor that is perfect for a wide range of applications. Generally the higher voltage drive the faster the motor will rotate. The higher the torque load applied to the motor the more current it will consume. Some applications don’t need anything more complex than an on / off motion such as a gear motor slowly and firmly turning the blades of an ice crusher. Iron core brushed designs are most cost effective and can be easily driven with a simple DC voltage. They can be engineered to high standards in terms of durability with the right sub-components, but they are limited in performance by their arrangement and construction methods. They can be used in motor designs greater than 8mm frame diameter.

Gearboxes are added to motors to reduce the rotational speed and to amplify the torque. All of our spur gear boxes are constructed using steel gears to maximise strength and lifetime and can be coupled to iron core, coreless and brushless motors.

Since the gearmotor’s output shaft is nylon, there can be small variances in the diameter from unit to unit. These variations might cause press-fit attachments like our 14mm wheel to fit loosely in some instances. The following diagram shows the micro plastic gearmotor dimensions in mm. The planetary gearbox has a D-shaped plastic output shaft, which is 2mm in diameter with a section that is flattened by 0.5mm. The “D” portion of the shaft is 2.5mm long.
